Air conditioned, mini BEST buses launched in Mumbai

Mumbai road will soon have mini buses operated by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) across a few important locations in the city. Reportedly, the buses will have the seating capacity of 21 passengers. The BEST mini buses are air-conditioned and operate on diesel. They will be operating on a wet-lease for seven years.
News has it that the state will launch about 400 more buses in different batches, but only after the next assembly elections. The AC mini buses have been introduced to make commuting within Mumbai easy for the city dwellers. These buses will run at significant locations like Malad, Goregaon, Prabhadevi, Mumbai CST, Nariman Point and Churchgate-Nariman Point-Cuffe Parade zone.


Maharashtra recently launched its first electric bus named Shivai, and once these mini AC buses are launched, the BEST service hopes to succeed in providing complete intra-city connectivity to its citizens.

By launching these mini buses, Mumbai city hopes to bring the BEST buses once again in the popularity charts after private service providers like Uber and Ola took a major share of commuters held by BEST.

BEST has been serving Mumbai city since at least 40 years now. In fact, a BEST ride is an experience that every tourist in Mumbai should look forward to.
