Tijara Jain Temple

Tijara Jain Temple is situated only 55 km away from Alwar and lies on the Delhi-Alwar Highway. It is known as a ‘place of salvation’ owing to the many ancient Jain temples situated here. Tijara is a popular pilgrimage site for Jains and a place of great interest for history buffs.
In 1956, during an excavation in Tijara, a statue of the main deity Chandra Prabha Bhagwan, the eighth Tirthankar was found and subsequently a temple in the same name was established. The beautiful idol of Bhagwan Chandra Prabhu is approx. 15 ft high, and is made of white marble.

The interiors of the Chandra Prabhu Temple are tastefully done with elaborate carvings, glass work and paintings depicting mythological stories. In Tijara, there are other Jain temples too. Important among them is an ancient the 250 years old temple of Parshavanath and Neminath which is located close-by.
There are also many other local products that one can buy from outside the temple, including papads, chickpea, pickles and other savouries that are a must buy! Tijara makes for a nice place to visit on a weekend from Delhi or Jaipur. Food is also available in the temple itself and one just needs to pay a token amount.
