5 new routes, 4 trails in Ladakh to open for travellers; permit limit also increased

While Ladakh has always been very inviting, travellers have two more reasons to rejoice now. As per the reports, travellers can now have access to five more new routes and four trekking trails. The five new routes include Korrzok-Nurbo-Sumdo-Parangla-Kaza, Merak-Loma Bend axis, Chushul-Kartsangla-Mahe, Durbuk-Shachu-Tharuk-Sato Kargyam-Parma-Erath-Chushul and Loma-Hanley, and Agham-Shayok-Durbuk. Another highlight of the initiative is the fact that most of the new routes are mostly at an altitude of 14,000 ft or more, and are accessible by road.

Trekkers too have a reason to rejoice as four new and uber-impressive trails will also be thrown open with this move by the government. The new trails that will be open soon are Phyang-Dokla-Hunderdok, Temisgam-Largyap-Panchathank-Skuru, Basgo-Ney-Hunderdok-Hunder, and Saspol-Saspochy-Rakurala-Skuru. It has to be noted that no night trekking or stay will be allowed on the trails; some of the routes would be open for night stays though.
In another major turn, the number of days on the travel permits in Ladakh has been increased to 15 days from the previous 7. Considering the vast expanse that Ladakh has for travellers, this turn has come as a welcome move for those seeking a longer trip in the region. So yes, you can soon go on more explorations in Ladakh.
