A spirited walk with a former street kid

Word to the wise: All proceeds from these tours go directly to the trust to enable more opportunities for street children.

Salaam Baalak Trust, a non-profit NGO that works with homeless street children, offers visitors to Delhi a guided walk through the bustling streets surrounding the Paharganj Main Bazaar and the New Delhi Railway Station - areas from which many of the children of the trust were rescued from. If you fork out for one tour in Delhi, let this insightful excursion be it.

Led by a former street child, who has been fully trained as a guide, the walk reveals hidden back streets and cultural practices usually shielded from the tourist trail. You'll also hear a personal account from the guide on the journey of their lives, and what can be accomplished if a child is given hope and help.
