Take a spin through the Charity Bird Hospital
One of the more unusual ways to spend an hour or so in Delhi is to visit the Charity Birds Hospital in the grounds of the Digambar Jain Temple opposite the Red Fort. The three-storey building was founded in a Jain sect in 1956 to help injured birds and rabbits. Now the hospital has become a quirky tourist attraction, where visitors come to see the bandaged birds - pigeons mainly, but also the odd peacock and parrot - being nursed back to health.
After plenty of loving care, vitamins and baths, the birds are set free from the roof. Donations are welcome as the hospital receives no government help.
