Popular comedy venue with a vaudeville atmosphere

Word to the wise: If you've booked ahead for a table, you'll need to arrive at least half an hour before the show, or the table could be given away.
Housed in the Century Plaza Hotel, this is one of the city's premier venues for stand-up comedy. It's larger than most comedy clubs and more cabaret hall than traditional cellar bar, but this is how it manages to attract successful names like Jeffery Yu, Ivan Decker and Erica Sigurdson. Seating is a mix of floor chairs and moon-shaped leather booths, and a tapas-style menu is available pre-show. You can also book in for a restaurant meal in the hotel, and reserve a booth for the comedy show afterwards.

Shows generally last just under two hours, with two performances on Fridays and Saturdays, but try and go on a weeknight, when it's almost half the price. With shows generally wrapping up by 10.30pm midweek, there will still be plenty of time to hit the city bars and practice your own gags.
