Popular plate: It's all about the socca here. Chez René's version of the crispy chickpea-flour pizza-pancake gives the competition a run for its money.

It's not the most romantic spot in town but the socca served up at Chez René is a winner. Curt waiters don't detract from the festive atmosphere; this is a place to eat, drink and be merry.
You have to join the oft-lengthy queue to order and collect your Niçois specialties, such as the eponymous socca or a pissaladière (a pizza-like dough topped with onions, anchovies and olives), but once seated at the large wooden tables with a carafe of wine, you're set. Of course, if you'd rather not dine in, you can order your socca to nibble on the run.
