A unique combination of rain, sun, wind, and temperature set the stage for the arrival of desert wildflowers in the late winter and early spring, as per the California Department of Parks and Recreation.
Referring to this, an expert pointed out that there is no natural definition for this phenomenon, and that they are a cultural phenomenon when humans see enough flowers emerge at one time in one place.
The department further added that they are optimistic that California's desert state parks will likely see a ‘good’ to ‘better than average’ wildflower bloom this year, depending on the continued weather conditions.
As per the reports, this super bloom only happens especially after the wet seasons, which typically follow years of drought. If reports are to go by, many parts of California witnessed more rainfall in the first few months of this year than in all of 2022, which resulted in this colourful scene.
