Word to the wise: Villo! bikes for visiting both parks are available for rent at both 14 and 19 Avenue Roosevelt, on the edge of the Bois de la Cambre.
The easiest way to access the forest from the city is through the Bois de la Cambre, Brussels' largest and loveliest park. The forest contains a lake on which you can hire rowing boats as well as several criss-crossing paths and lush meadows, making it very popular with walkers, runners, cyclists and horse riders alike.
Trails are well marked and will take you round the Bois de la Cambre and into the Foret de Soignes, where you can revel in a day (or a few hours) of hiking or biking under the soaring beech trees of its ancient woodland.
