The Char Dham Yatra has recently started and pilgrims from far and near began their journey on Tuesday. This journey is all about the four holy rivers of India, which can be deciphered from the very name of the journey; as char literally translates to four. The four holy rivers are Yamuna, Ganga, Mandakini and Alaknanda, which are located at Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath respectively. Read less
Visitors undertake the arduous task of trekking and reaching these locations every year. As per the Uttarakhand Tourism, this year’s Char Dham Yatra schedule is as follows—Yamunotri (May 7, 2019); Gangotri (May 7, 2019); Kedarnath (May 9, 2019); and Badrinath (May 10, 2019).
Now, there are two routes that will take you to this spiritual sojourn, i.e., from Dehradun and Haridwar; and the journey is done from west to east, starting from Yamunotri and ending at Badrinath.
