Pride Week is certainly celebrated in this city, every September for an entire week, bringing people together in various destinations across Calgary. The biggest event of the week long festival is the pride parade that takes place the first Sunday in September, drawing thousands of spectators and over 125 entries from people, organisations, public figures, communities and more. Immediately following this incredible parade is a free, outdoor festival for everyone in the city, held at Shaw Millennium Park. Here visitors will find live music on the large outdoor stage, games and activities for kids, a beer garden for the parents, and an outdoor marketplace. Leading up to these two major events are drag shows, concerts, dance parties, and much more. This family friendly event invites people of all ages, races and genders to come out and celebrate. Considering that the Prime Minister has shown up in Toronto and Vancouver in 2016 to march in their pride parades, it is likely he will show his presence in the Calgary Pride Parade, a day no one will forget.
