shohely akhter becomes first woman cricketer to be banned for corruption charges

Bangladesh's shohely akhter has been banned for five years by the ICC after trying to fix matches during the 2023 Women's T20 World Cup. The 36-year-old admitted to breaching several anti-corruption codes, attempting to bribe a teammate with 2 million Bangladeshi Taka to get out hit wicket. The player reported the approach, leading to Shohely's suspension.
