The newly formed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor Vijay, won two seats while its alliance partner, Puducherry-based party, Neyam Makkal Katchi (NMK) won one seat. TVK candidates have secured a significant number of votes, impacting the winning margins between the two major alliances.

G. Sabari Iyngaran of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has won the 2026 Assembly election, defeating Sakthivel alias Aatral Arasu (VCK/SPA). The multi-cornered contest also featured Dr. K. Kathirkamu (AMMK/NDA) and Vimala R. (NTK), with key campaign issues including welfare schemes and agricultural development.

Speaking to reporters after collecting his certificate of election from a counting official, Rangasamy said the people have recognised the govt’s achievements and have elected the NDA again for the second consecutive term. He hailed the outcome as a direct mandate from the people validating his administration’s performance over the last five years.

NDA comprising AINRC, BJP, AIADMK and LJK has won three seats and is leading in 19 seats. A total of 16 seats is required for a simple majority in the 30-member House.

Following the departure of seven Rajya Sabha MPs, a senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader claims two AAP Lok Sabha MPs may also leave the party. This follows recent shifts in the Rajya Sabha where AAP members aligned with the BJP, strengthening the NDA's position. Speculation over further exits continues.

Early West Bengal election results indicate the Bharatiya Janata Party is making significant inroads in Muslim-majority constituencies. This suggests a shift in voter allegiance. The Trinamool Congress faces challenges converting votes despite secularism campaigns. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urges party workers to remain steadfast, asserting the TMC is still ahead. High voter turnout was recorded across phases.

AIADMK's Edappadi K Palaniswami thanked voters for their participation despite heat and lauded party workers. He urged vigilance until vote counting concludes, citing strong public opposition to the DMK government. Palaniswami also condemned alleged DMK-sponsored violence against AIADMK workers, attributing it to fear of defeat.
