The government urges Tower Semiconductor to enhance its chip fabrication proposal in India by partnering with companies offering advanced nodes like 28 nm, 40 nm, 55 nm, and 65 nm to align with the India Semiconductor Mission.

Gautam Adani's Adani Group is partnering with Israel's Tower Semiconductor to establish a semiconductor fabrication plant in India. The project will enhance India's chipmaking capacity, creating 5000 jobs and producing up to 80,000 wafers.

Israel's Tower Semiconductor, Apple's contract manufacturer Foxconn and a Singapore-based consortium have all shown interest in setting up semiconductor fabrication units in India, a government source told Reuters.

Intel has announced a new deal with Tower Semiconductor to provide foundry services and manufacturing capacity. Zoho cited a lack of confidence in the technology path, while Adani expressed concerns about weak demand and limited financial commitment from its partner.

Intel will terminate a $5.4 billion deal to acquire Israeli chip manufacturer Tower Semiconductor after China failed to sign off on the deal amid rising tensions with the United States. It was a mutual decision between Intel and Tower, the companies said Wednesday. The Maharashtra Cabinet sub-committee on industry, chaired by chief minister Eknath Shinde, has approved four high-tech industrial projects with a combined investment of Rs 1.2 lakh crore.
