American actor David Dastmalchian has joined the cast of the upcoming horror film "Rosario," alongside actors Jose Zuniga, Diana Lein, Paul Ben-Victor, and Emilia Faucher. The film, directed by Colombian filmmaker Felipe Vargas and written by Alan Trezza, will star Emeraude Toubia as the lead. Production is set to begin in mid-November in Bogota, Colombia. The story follows a successful stockbroker trapped in her deceased grandmother's apartment, where supernatural forces possess the corpse. The film is produced by Jon Silk and Javier Chapa, with Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier as executive producers.

Xochitl Gomez, known for her role as Marvel's America Chavez, is currently filming 'Hive', a horror short directed by Felipe Vargas. The story follows Gomez's character, a teenage babysitter who encounters a sinister creature while searching for a lost child at a playground. Lorelei Olivia Mote co-stars in the film, which is set in broad daylight, a departure from typical horror settings. Gomez praises Vargas for his meticulous yet lively approach to filmmaking. Produced by Nick Scully, Nicole Crespo, and Bijan Kazerooni, 'Hive' aims for late-year festival circuits after post-production. Vargas gained recognition with his 2020 short 'Milk Teeth' and made his feature debut with 'Rosario'. He's also helming the next Leprechaun installment and writing a Bob the Builder film. Gomez is set to voice a character in Warner Bros.' adaptation of 'The Cat in the Hat'.
