11 Parliamentarians, reeling under the shock of a sting operation that exposes their willingness to write recommendation letters for money. MPs from parties like Congress, BJP, JD(U) and AIADMK now in the dock. Rattled by the independent website's expose, JD(U) MP is now claiming political conspiracy. But the sting shows, MP Maheshwar Hazari not just negotiating the deal but also willing to rope in other MPs to lobby for the fictitious oil major. An embarrassed JD(U) now, promising action against those guilty. Like JD(U) MP Maheshwar Hazari, many other leaders have also left their parties completely red faced. Cong MP KL Bairwa might feign ignorance, the same MP talking money with the reporter. While some like BJP MP Hari Manjhi are now challenging the sting, saying that nowhere is he seen talking about money. But, his personal secretary is doing all the dirty deals for him. His party though quick to jump to his defence. Cobrapost sting has clearly exposed the ugly nexus between politicians-their secretaries- and agents who indulge is such shady dealings. Now, the MPs have all sorts of excuses to offer to justify their act, like even while agreeing to write the letter without doing any background check of the company. JD(U) MP V.M Kumar cites election funding. The government now saying the Parliamentary Ethics Committee must look into the matter. Despite the visual proof, these MPs are crying foul. But instead of offering mere lip service, shouldn't their parties take a tough stand and sack these erring politicians.
