It's World Music Day on June 21. The way people listen to music has changed over the years. From Sony Walkman to Spotify and Amazon Echo, how people listen to music has seen several big changes in the past few decades. Technology and gadgets have played an important role in this. Here are five gadgets that have been the biggest trendsetters in the world of music.

Sony Walkman (1979): Made music portableLaunched in 1979, the Sony Walkman revolutionised how people back then listened to music. Before Walkman, music was mostly a stationary experience, enjoyed via vinyl records or home stereo systems. The Walkman, a portable cassette player, allowed people to carry their favourite tunes anywhere, providing a private and mobile listening experience. Walkmans became so big that the name became synonymous with cassette players.
