Donald Trump has demanded that Netflix remove Susan Rice from its board, escalating his criticism of the streaming company at a sensitive time as it seeks approval for its planned merger with Warner Bros. Discovery. The call adds political pressure on Netflix while regulators closely review the deal for possible antitrust issues. Rice, a former US ambassador and national security adviser, recently warned companies against aligning too closely with Trump. Her comments, made on a podcast, drew sharp reaction from the president and his supporters, turning a corporate governance issue into a public political dispute.
Who is Susan Rice
Susan Rice is a longtime Democratic foreign policy and national security official. She served in senior roles under Presidents Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Under Obama, Rice was U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, becoming the first Black woman to hold the post. She later served as national security adviser and then led the Domestic Policy Council under Biden.

Susan Rice was born in Washington, D.C., and studied history at Stanford University.
Before entering government, she worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. Over the years, she has been a frequent target of criticism from conservative figures and media.
In recent remarks on the “Stay Tuned with Preet Bharara” podcast, Rice warned companies not to “take a knee” to Trump or bend the law to stay in his favor. She said firms that do so could face consequences if political power shifts in the future. “There is likely to be a swing in the other direction,” she said, adding that such companies could be “held accountable” if Democrats return to power.
Rice has also faced past controversies, including criticism over her public comments after the 2012 Benghazi attack and scrutiny over intelligence “unmasking” during the 2016 election period. Multiple investigations later cleared her of wrongdoing.
