ChatGPT-maker OpenAI has once again delayed the rollout of its planned ‘adult mode’ for ChatGPT, citing ongoing safety and compliance concerns, as reported by Axios. The adult mode in ChatGPT was initially expected to launch earlier this year but has been now postponed indefinitely as the company works to refine safeguards around sensitive content.

The proposed ‘adult mode’ in ChatGPT is designed to enable the chatbot to handle more mature topics with fewer restrictions, while still maintaining guardrails against harmful or illegal content. This mode was intended to offer more flexibility to the users in conversations including adult themes, but its release has been repeatedly pushed back.

Reason behind the delay

As reported by Axios, OpenAI is holding back the launch due to safety, regulatory and ethical considerations.
