Infosys has moved a US court seeking confirmation and enforcement of a $5 million arbitration award against US-based investment firm 777 Partners over unpaid consulting dues.
In a petition filed under the US Federal Arbitration Act and the New York Convention, Infosys asked the court to confirm a final arbitration consent award issued in April by the American Arbitration Association’s International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR). TOI has reviewed the petition.
According to the filing, 777 Partners engaged Infosys for consulting services during 2022 and 2023. The engagement began in June 2022 through a statement of work, which was later amended in October 2022 to revise deliverables and extend the project timeline through March 2023.
Under the agreement, the parties agreed to resolve disputes through arbitration. Infosys initiated arbitration proceedings against 777 Partners on January 5, 2024, alleging breach of contract. In May 2024, the ICDR appointed a three-member arbitral tribunal comprising Dana McGrath, Sherman Kahn, and Usher Winslett to preside over the dispute.
On April 10, the tribunal issued an award in favour of Infosys pursuant to a settlement agreement between the parties. The award directed 777 Partners to pay Infosys $5 million, along with about $5,998 towards reimbursement of ICDR administrative fees and expenses borne by Infosys. An email sent to Infosys on the matter didn’t elicit a response till press time.
