Google is giving AI Pro subscribers more than twice the storage they had before. The plan jumps from 2 TB to 5 TB—an extra 3 TB across Gmail, Drive, and Google Photos—with no change to the Rs 1,950 monthly price. Google VP Shimrit Ben-Yair confirmed the upgrade on Twitter, saying the extra space was meant to give subscribers more room to build with Google AI and back up what matters.
The 2 TB tier that cost more now gives you less
The timing makes standalone Google One look increasingly awkward. Google's 2 TB Google One plan costs Rs 650 a month—and AI Pro just blew past it at nearly three times the storage, for three times the price but with a full AI subscription on top. The basic Google One tier, meanwhile, has sat at 15 GB for years.
Gemini gets more useful in Docs, Gmail, and Chrome too
The storage bump wasn't the only announcement. Gemini in Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive can now pull context from your files, emails, and the web at once—useful if you're working across several ongoing projects. Gmail users in the US get AI Overviews for inbox search and a proofread tool. Chrome is getting an agentic auto-browse feature for Pro and Ultra subscribers in the US, meant to handle repetitive multi-step tasks like form filling or trip planning. Google Home Premium is also now bundled into AI Pro at no extra cost, bringing Gemini-powered automations to your smart home setup.
For existing subscribers, the upgrade is automatic.
