Foxconn chairman says US-Iran war will impact everyone: ‘I think this war is something that …’

Young Liu, chairman of world’s largest electronics maker Foxconn has said that everyone will feel the impact on prices of oil and raw materials if the US-Israel conflict with Iran drags on, reported Reuters. Speaking to reporters at Foxconn’s headquarters in Taipei’s neighbouring city of New Taipei, Liu said “I think this war is something nobody wants to see. We hope it ends as soon as possible”. Stating that the fallout for his company was ‘currently limited’, he said that if the war drags on, it could push oil to $100 a barrel, and push up prices for raw materials.


As per the news agency, Young Liu said that he expected “2026 to be a very good year for it,” the news agency stated.




“If these effects last longer, everyone will start to feel them. But ‌if ⁠the duration can be kept short, then at least for now, the impact isn't very big, based on what we're seeing at the moment,” the Foxconn chairman said as quoted in the Reuters report.

Hackers hit Iranian apps and websites

A wave of cyber-enabled operations are targeting Iran amid the joint US-Israeli attack. Just minutes after the first set of explosions last week, Iranians reportedly received slew of notifications on their phones. These notifications were not from the government advising caution, but from the prayer timing app called ‘BadeSaba Calendar’. The app has 5 million-plus downloads on Google Play Store in the country. According to a report in Wired, which reportedly saw the messages, these messages arrived in quick succession over a period of 30 minutes, starting with the phrase ‘Help Has Arrived’ at 9:52 am Tehran time. All push notifications were titled “Help is on the way” and were in Farsi language.


Screenshots shared with WIRED Middle East show messages urging Iranian military personnel to surrender their weapons with the promise of amnesty. It also reportedly asked the army personnel to join “the forces of liberation” and to “defend your brothers”. “The time for revenge has come,” said another notification received at 10:02 AM read. “The regime's repressive forces will pay for their cruel and merciless actions against the innocent people of Iran. Anyone who joins in defending and protecting the Iranian nation will be granted amnesty and forgiveness.”
