Cloud-based data warehousing company Snowflake has confirmed that it has made targeted job cuts as part of internal changes. As reported by Business Insider, the company said the move is aimed at aligning its teams with long-term goals. While it did not share the exact number of employees affected, the report suggests that some roles in its technical writing and documentation teams could be impacted. Snowflake said it continues to focus on growth and improving efficiency across its operations. For those unaware, the company signed a $200 million deal with Sam Altman-led OpenaAI to bring GPT 5.2 to its customers.

What Snowflake said about job cuts

In a statement quoted by BI, Snowflake said the layoffs are part of planned adjustments.“These actions reflect targeted adjustments to align our teams with Snowflake's long-term strategy,” a Snowflake spokesperson said. “Such steps are a natural part of scaling a fast-growing company, and we remain firmly committed to sustained growth. Snowflake will continue investing in our people and products to deliver exceptional value and best-in-class support for customers. We see significant opportunities ahead and are confident in our strategy and the strength of our team.
According to posts shared on LinkedIn, the job cuts affected employees working in technical writing and documentation. These teams are responsible for creating guides and instructions that help developers and customers use Snowflake’s products.Snowflake did not confirm the specific teams impacted.The layoffs come as Snowflake increases its focus on efficiency and artificial intelligence. CEO Sridhar Ramaswamy has earlier said the company is working to improve operations while building more AI-driven products.

Snowflake and OpenAI ink $200 million deal

In February this year, partnered with OpenAI for a $200 million multi-year deal wherein the cloud data giant will natively integrate ChatGPT-maker’s advanced models, including the newly revealed GPT-5.2, directly into the Snowflake AI Data Cloud. The partnership will allow Snowflake’s 12,600+ global customers to build and deploy “agentic” AI systems that can reason over proprietary data and automate complex business workflows. The company made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter).
