Vivo V70 Elite review: Impresses by looks and beyond
Rating 3.8/5
However, beyond the specifications, the real question is how the phone fits into daily usage. We spent time with the 12GB+256GB variant in Sand Beige colour as a primary device to understand how it performs across areas: from handling routine tasks and gaming to camera performance and battery life during extended use. Here’s what we think about the phone:
Design
The glass rear panel adds to its premium in-hand feel, and at 194g with a thickness of 7.59mm, the phone is both sleek and lightweight, even with the large battery. The weight distribution is handled well, making it suitable for long usage sessions like watching videos, browsing social media, or extended gaming sessions.
The rear panel has a smooth finish, and while it looks clean, it can attract fingerprints over time. The camera module is neatly placed and does not protrude too much, although there is a slight wobble when kept on a flat surface.
The device comes in three colour options: Authentic Black, Passion Red, and Sand Beige. We tested the Sand Beige variant which stands out with its subtle finish and is quite easy on the eyes.
The power button and volume controls are placed on the right side and are easy to reach. At the bottom, you get the USB Type-C port, SIM tray, and speaker grille.
The phone also comes with IP68 and IP69 ratings, which adds a layer of protection against dust and water. Overall, the design feels practical and comfortable for everyday use.
Display
The Vivo V70 Elite features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution. During our usage, the screen delivered a good viewing experience across different scenarios.
The colors appear vibrant, and the contrast levels help deliver deeper blacks. Whether watching videos on YouTube or scrolling through social media, the display feels engaging.
The 120Hz refresh rate makes interactions smooth, especially while navigating through apps or playing games. Animations feel fluid and responsive.
The phone also offers high brightness levels, which helps in outdoor visibility. Even under direct sunlight, the screen remained readable.
The display supports a wide color gamut, which improves the overall viewing experience. However, like most curved-edge displays, there can be slight distortion at the edges in certain situations.
Performance and software
The Vivo V70 Elite is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor. We tested the variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. In day-to-day usage, the phone handled tasks smoothly.
Whether it was switching between apps, browsing, or using multiple apps at once, the phone maintained consistent performance without noticeable lag.
Gaming performance is also stable. We tried titles like BGMI and Call of Duty Mobile, and the phone managed to run them at high settings. However, during extended sessions, the device did get slightly warm.
On the software side, the phone runs Android 16 with OriginOS 6. The interface feels cleaner compared to previous versions and offers a more refined experience.
There are still some pre-installed apps, but most of them can be removed. During our usage, the UI felt responsive and the animations were fluid.
Camera
The Vivo V70 Elite comes with a triple rear camera setup tuned by ZEISS, including a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. There is also a 50MP front camera for selfies.
In daylight, the primary camera captures detailed images with balanced colours. The dynamic range is handled well, and photos look natural without excessive processing. Here are a few camera samples:
The telephoto lens supports portrait shots and zoom, delivering decent results with impressive subject separation. Portrait mode performs well, with a natural-looking background blur.
The ultra-wide camera is useful for group shots and landscapes, though the detail level drops slightly compared to the main sensor. Low-light performance is decent. The Night mode enhances brightness and minimizes noise, but it may introduce some softness in darker scenes.
The front camera captures clear selfies with accurate skin tones, making it suitable for social media use. Video recording supports up to 4K resolution, and the stabilisation works well during movement.
Battery
The Vivo V70 Elite packs a 6500mAh battery, which performs well in daily usage. With a mix of browsing, video streaming, social media, and some gaming, the phone easily lasted more than a day on a single charge. On lighter usage days, it can stretch further.
The 90W fast charging support is particularly useful. The phone charges quickly and reduces downtime, especially when you are in a hurry. Heat management during charging is handled well, and we did not notice any major issues.
Verdict
The Vivo V70 Elite offers a balanced experience across different areas. It delivers reliable performance, a capable camera setup, and strong battery life. The device is one of the elegant-looking phones in this price segment. It has a clean and understated design, which not only gives it a pleasing look but also provides a satisfactory in-hand feel.
The display complements the overall experience, while the phone handles day-to-day tasks smoothly and delivers decent camera output. There are a few minor drawbacks, like pre-installed apps, but they are in no way a complete deal breaker.
If you are looking for a smartphone that handles everyday tasks and occasional gaming while also offering a capable camera setup, the Vivo V70 Elite is worth considering in this segment.
