Amazon has ‘bad news’ for Luna cloud gaming service users; company says: We will no longer offer…
Amazon has announced major changes for its struggling game streaming service Luna. According to a Kotaku report, the company will stop offering key features on the platform, including the ability to purchase games and subscribe to third-party services. The update also confirms that games previously bought through Luna will soon become unplayable via streaming. The report claims that Amazon Luna customers would no longer be able to buy any of their games from Amazon Luna or through additional subscription options such as EA Play.Amazon recently confirmed to Kotaku that it is “always looking for ways to better serve our players” and that “feedback” has made it “clear” that gamers want “easy access to great games.” As a result, the company is restructuring Luna’s offerings by removing several core features tied to game ownership and subscriptions.

What's changing for Amazon Luna game streaming service users

Previously purchased games are expected to be available for a limited time and will no longer be available on the platform by June 10. On its part, Amazon Luna stated that the use of purchased games in Luna would end on June 10.Amazon further noted that if gamers connected their Amazon Luna accounts to Ubisoft or EA, among other external services, they could continue playing the same games as long as their hardware supported it or they had other means to do so besides the Amazon Luna platform.
The company also confirmed that it will not issue refunds for games purchased through Luna. This contrasts with earlier industry instances, such as when Google shut down Stadia and refunded users for their purchases.Launched in 2020, Amazon Luna has struggled to gain traction. Initially positioned as a competitor to other cloud gaming platforms, the service offered access to a mix of third-party titles. Over time, Amazon adjusted its approach, and in 2025, it announced plans to shift Luna’s focus toward casual, party-style games. This upgrade brings Luna even closer to that trend. From now on, Luna’s model will involve curating content and offering access via subscriptions, where games are spread across multiple tiers, not unlike other subscription services in the gaming world.
