Qubo Video Doorbell Pro Review: Smart, sensible and built for Indian homes
Rating: 3.5/5
Design and Build: Simple and clean
The Qubo Video Doorbell Pro does not try too hard to look flashy yet its design is impressive that can complement huge bungalows and even small apartments. It sports a neat pill-shaped body with the camera lens sitting at the top, a mic and a speaker, and a doorbell button that has an LED ring around it for visual indication.Installation is straightforward with in-box screws, wall anchors and a wedge mount that lets you adjust the viewing angle depending on where your door faces. Importantly, Qubo includes a mounting bracket that allows you to replace your existing traditional doorbell switch directly – saving a lot of hassle during setup. The setup process is handled through the Qubo app. Scan a QR code, connect to Wi-Fi, follow a few steps, and you are done. The Qubo Video Doorbell Pro gets an IP66 rating, which means it can withstand dust, rain and heat.
Video quality: Sharp enough
The Qubo Video Doorbell Pro captures footage in 2K resolution. In daylight, the footage is crisp and sharp, ensuring that the face of the visitor is captured in high resolution. The colour reproduction is acceptable, which makes a strong case if you were to recognise someone from the colour of their clothes. The wide field of view is a standout feature, capturing not just the person at the door but also the surrounding area.Night vision is handled through infrared sensors. In moderately lit areas like a building corridor with dim light, the footage is quite usable and identification is possible. However, in truly dark conditions, image quality drops noticeably.
Coming to the two-way audio feature. It works well for day-to-day use with conversations happening with minimal delay and acceptable voice clarity.
When it comes to alerts and notifications, on a stable Wi-Fi connection, push notifications arrive within a second of a visitor pressing the bell. The app rings with a regular tone, and the included chime unit (which plugs into a standard 2-pin wall socket) rings simultaneously, so you do not miss a visitor even if your phone is on silent.
One of the Doorbell Pro's biggest practical advantages is its microSD card slot for local storage. In a market where many smart home devices push users toward paid cloud subscriptions, this is a genuine differentiator. You own your footage, store it locally, and avoid recurring monthly costs.
The companion app is clean and functional. It gives you access to live view, visitor history, motion settings, on-demand recording and manual call initiation. It also works on different wifi and mobile internet so that you can keep an eye on your house when you are in office.
Another component of owning a Qubo Doorbell Pro is the after-sale service. During our review time, the bell suddenly stopped working. Reaching out to Qubo customer care and getting the matter resolved within a single working day was breeze.
Verdict
The Qubo Video Doorbell Pro is not trying to reinvent the segment, it’s just their as a practical, no-nonsense solution to one of most concerning security issues in Indian households. At Rs 7,990, it delivers clear 2K video, reliable notifications, decent two-way audio, local storage and smart home compatibility in a weatherproof package that is easy to install and straightforward to use. Its night vision performance in acceptable in low-light conditions but performance in very dark conditions is a minor drawback, but this is not a dealbreaker at this price. If you are upgrading from a basic traditional doorbell and want something smarter without spending a fortune or committing to a subscription plan, the Qubo Video Doorbell Pro is a solid, sensible choice that fits Indian homes like a puzzle piece.Comments (1)
