HyperX Cloud Jet Dual Wireless Headset review: Punches above its weight
Rating: 4/5
The company’s latest offering for the Indian market is the HyperX Cloud Jet Dual Wireless Headset, officially priced at Rs 6,977, aims to tap a consumer that is looking for an excellent high-quality performance at a relatively affordable price point.
HyperX Cloud Jet design: Clean and professional
Unlike most gaming headsets that are loaded with RGB lights and accents, HP has chosen a clean and professional-looking design HyperX Cloud Jet. While some gamers may like flashy lights, this headset appears to specifically targeted for people who want a single pair of headphones for work and play. The headset comes in a Blue colour option with white and grey-ish accents. Those who like to be a little discreet can go for a matte jet black finish. The HyperX logo goes with the overall design: subtle with a minimalist appeal. The headset features a swivel-to-mute boom microphone with sidetone, which ensures clear in-game communication while letting users hear their own voice naturally. The stem of the microsoft is also flexible for easy communication. When it comes to controls, all of them sit on the left earcup: power/Bluetooth pairing button, USB-C charging port, volume dial, and a toggle to switch between Bluetooth and dongle mode. The microphone is built-in and uses a flip-to-mute design. The construction is entirely plastic but feels durable.
HyperX Cloud Jet performance: Impressive across the board
HyperX Cloud Jet is fitted with 40mm dynamic drivers with HyperX’s signature sound and a closed-cup design to block external noise. This helps in making the overall experience immersive. The HyperX Cloud Jet is a dual wireless gaming headset supporting both 2.4GHz wireless (via a dongle) and Bluetooth 5.3. It works with PC, models and laptops.Setup is straightforward: plug in the dongle, switch to dongle mode and you can start playing game. Don’t like to have another accessory added to your gaming laptop’s port, connect it with Bluetooth.
Whether its gaming, listening to music or watching a video – audio quality is excellent for the price. The HyperX Cloud Jet offers rich bass and clear vocals make cinematic moments sound fantastic. The bass in not overpowering and doesn't ‘hit your head’. For example, if you are playing a game like Call of Duty, you can clearly listen to dialogues in the middle of explosions. In games like Forza Horizon 5, the ‘thuds’ and ‘scratches’ sounded realistic.
We also used headphones for listening to music and watching movie, and they performed fairly well. We listened to songs from downtempo to club and rock music while channel separation stands out in movies. Fight scenes like the final fight in Avengers: Endgame came out clearly with distinct sounds and clear dialogue.
HyperX Cloud Jet battery life
HyperX’s claims that the headphones offer up to 25 hours of runtime on a single charge and the company’s claims hold well. As per our usage patterns, we got 20+ hours of use – which is impressive for budget wireless headset.
HyperX Cloud Jet verdict
The HyperX Cloud Jet Dual Wireless is impressive package. It lacks a wired connectivity option but it does get a low-latency dongle, and Bluetooth connectivity. It performs well in all situations: gaming, music and movies – offering an affordable solution to those who are looking for a high-performing headset at a reasonable price point. The HyperX Cloud Jet Dual Wireless Headset is available for purchase on the HP Online Store and Amazon, starting at Rs 6,977, in a Light Blue and Black colour options.
