Google Gemini can now automate tasks on Samsung Galaxy S26 series and Pixel 10 phones: How it works
Samsung Galaxy S26 series has been launched. At the Galaxy Unpacked event held in San Francisco, TM Roh, Samsung's CEO of device experience, said that the newest offering is “agentic AI phone”, hinting at AI features that can now automate several tasks like order food and grocery, and even book a cab for you. Samsung announced that the latest phones offer a huge set of AI features that are built into the core experience, with same features being rolled out in beta for users of the Pixel 10 series.
“When you’re working on a repetitive daily task, it’s easy to daydream about handing it off to someone else. Now, we’re showing an early preview of what’s possible. Launching soon as a beta feature in the Gemini app for Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S26 series, you can offload multi-step tasks directly to Gemini — initially in the US and Korea,” Google said.
For example, users can ask Gemini to help book a ride home or reorder your last meal on DoorDash. Gemini will work in the background, leaving users free to keep using your phone.
According to Google, the newest feature is built to prioritise user safety and privacy. This memes that automations begin with users’ command and stop as soon as the task is finished. Users can monitor Gemini’s progress live via notifications, allowing them to view, jump in or stop the task.
“Gemini automates the task by running the app you need in a secure, virtual window on your phone. This means Gemini can only access limited apps, and not the rest of your device,” Google explained.
Sameer Samat, President, Android Ecosystem at Google, said that Android is evolving from an Operating System to an Intelligent System, and that Gemini 3.0 uses its multimodal reasoning to get the task done.
For the first time, Samsung has added Perplexity as an optional AI agent on the Galaxy S26 series. Users can set it up as their preferred agent for search and information tasks, completing queries with a single button press or voice prompt.
Gemini takes on everyday tasks
Google Gemini is the deeply integrated third-party AI agent on the Galaxy S26 series. A long press of the side button opens Gemini, which can then handle multi-step tasks in the background while the user continues using the phone normally.“When you’re working on a repetitive daily task, it’s easy to daydream about handing it off to someone else. Updates to Circle to Search and Scam Detection feature
The S26 also brings an upgraded Circle to Search experience, allowing users to search multiple objects at once. Scam Detection feature is also being released for Samsung Phone app. Using an on-device Gemini model, the feature listens for signs of a potential scam during a live call and alerts the user with an audio and haptic notification. For the first time, Samsung has added Perplexity as an optional AI agent on the Galaxy S26 series.
