Borderlands 4's first premium DLC, Bounty Pack 2: Legend of the Stone Demon, is set to drop on February 26. The upcoming storyline and other content has been described by Gearbox as
"all-new bite-sized yet flavourful narrative content". The DLC includes a new mission and legendary loot to collect, as well as a themed Vault Card featuring 24 cosmetics and four
"rerollable pieces of gear unlocked through gameplay".While the Borderlands developer held back on the story details, the studio promised that it will reveal more about Legend of the Stone Demon
"closer to the launch". There is more info about the update that will be released alongside Bounty Pack 2: Pearlescent gear, a new rarity tier
"with power levels superior to even Legendary gear". This new rarity will be available to all players regardless of what edition of Borderlands 4 they own, although some pieces of Pearlescent gear will be exclusive to Bounty Pack 2.
Borderlands 4 story Pack and new playable character: What to expect
The first Story Pack for Borderlands 4, named Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, will arrive next month and introduces multiple main and side missions set in a new zone of Kairos, as well as new gear and cosmetics.
The story will centre on the
"return of the indomitable fan-favourite Ellie," and
"focuses on a cosmic horror theme with a bloodier, darker tone." It will also include the first new playable Vault Hunter, C4SH, a former casino dealer bot.
Earlier this week, Borderlands 4 publisher Take-Two announced the game's Switch 2 version is now on
"pause" following its last-minute delay. A Switch 2 version for the Gearbox looter shooter was initially announced during Nintendo's April 2025 Direct and then was set to arrive on October 3, 2025, before its release was scrubbed just a week before launch. Pre-orders were cancelled, though Gearbox framed the move as a delay rather than a full scrapping of the project.
