'Jana Nayagan' censor row: Thalapathy Vijay starrer to be reviewed by an army official, aims THIS release date
Thalapathy Vijay's 'Jana Nayagan' faces a new hurdle as the makers withdraw court cases and opt for re-censoring, involving an army official's review. This strategic shift aims to resolve issues with the censor board after previous legal battles failed. Overseas bookings hint at a February 20 release, sparking fan anticipation for a definitive date.
Vijay’s 'Jana Nayagan', directed by H. Vinoth, has been stuck in limbo owing to its run in with the censor board. The January release plan failed, and the film’s future became uncertain. The problem began when the censor board refused to give a certificate to 'Jana Nayagan' as some scenes were regarded as unsuitable, thus, the producers decided to move to court. At first, a single judge ordered a U/A certificate for the film. But this order was cancelled in an appeal. The case then went to the Supreme Court, but no positive result came there either. The case was then referred to the High Court. So, the case engulfed the movie in an expensive legal venture that the distribution deal fell through.

Makers change strategy for release

As per Filmibeat, the producers seem to have changed their approach. Reports suggest that the makers have decided to withdraw the court case. An official confirmation is expected soon. At the same time, the team has started the process of sending the film for re-censoring. Since court adjudication was no longer an option, the producers shifted their focus to the USA’s censorship procedure as the next best solution. This is being considered as being better than the court decision.

Re-censoring could decide the film’s future

During the re-censor process, a former senior army officer is expected to watch the film.
He will check if army symbols and scenes are shown correctly. If he gives a positive opinion, the film may face no more major problems with respect to its release. But if he raises objections, new issues could come up again. Meanwhile, overseas booking sites have listed 'Jana Nayagan' as a February 20 release, and this excited fans more. For now, fans of Vijay are waiting for clarity. Everyone hopes the problems end soon and the film finally gets a clear release date. Also See: 'Jana Nayagan' censor row: Thalapathy Vijay starrer to end the legal battle, Madras HC to hear on February 10
