Panasonic to announce new addition to its Toughbook range today
The Japanese electronics major Panasonic is all set to expand its Toughbook series in the country. The company has sent an invitation regarding the same. 'Panasonic invites you to the search for the toughest' reads the company's media invite.
No other details have been revealed about the device.
Toughbook is the company's range of rugged computing devices. The company offers laptops and tablets under the Toughbook brand. These devices are designed to work under harsh conditions and are said to survive drop tests up to 4 feet. The tablets and laptops under this range are also waterproof.
These features have made Panasonic Toughbook range a favourite with the defence establishments across the world, claims the company.
The company is also betting big on the smartphone range expects its revenues from mobile phones to more than double to Rs 2,500 crore by the end of this fiscal as the company expands its product portfolio and distribution chain in the country.
The company plans to launch about 25 smartphones this year. Last year its revenues from mobile phones stood at Rs 1,200 crore. Panasonic plans to focus on Rs 10,000-15,000 devices to fuel its growth in the country.
The company, which has assembly facility in Noida, claims to meet about 95% of its sales requirements in India from the plant.
The company's India business head (mobility division) Pankaj Rana recently told media that Panasonic India plans to spend about Rs 200 crore on marketing campaigns.
