Motorola confirms G4, G4 Plus will be Amazon exclusive
Motorola's upcoming smartphones Moto G4 Moto G 4 Plus will be Amazon exclusive. The company has revealed this on its Twitter handle.
In a press statement too, Amit Boni, country head, Motorola Mobility India, said, "We have witnessed tremendous growth in the e-commerce market and it will continue to be the dominating channel for us as we bring new products to the India market. Amazon.in is the one of the best online marketplaces in India and we are glad to announce that we have exclusively partnered with Amazon India for our next Motorola smartphone."
Motorola, now owned by China's Lenovo, made a comeback into the Indian market in February 2014 in partnership with homegrown online retail giant Flipkart. The online-only exclusive partnership with Flipkart was seen as successful for the company. In September 2015, after 18-months of exclusive tie-up with Flipkart, Motorola decided to start selling its devices on rival platforms such as Snapdeal and Amazon while also tapping into the offline business with large-format stores such as Reliance Retail as well as Airtel-branded stores.
Last week, Motorola had sent out invites for an event on May 17 where it is expected to launch the two devices.
As per speculations, both the handsets will sport metal frame body with a plastic back. According to earlier leaks, the smartphones will feature a 5.5-inch display and 16GB of internal storage.
Moto G4 is expected to feature a 13MP rear camera, whereas the Moto G4 Plus is likely to come with a 16MP primary camera. The rumours also suggest that Motorola Moto G4 Plus will sport fingerprint sensor on home button.
The smartphones are expected to come in Black and White colour options with interchangeable back covers.
