Google updates Contacts app on Android, adds new features
NEW DELHI: Search giant Google has updated its Contacts app for Android. The update introduces quite some new features and improvements, including a revamped design.
A noticeable addition after the update is the hamburger menu on the left of the Contacts app. In place of the Favourites and All tabs options, users will now see a single contact list, with a sidebar menu available via the said hamburger button.
Along with this, users will also be able to manage duplicate contacts. The app will also offer suggestions regarding what might be duplicate contacts. Users will be able to dismiss suggestions or link duplicate contacts for unifying them under a single name. The app will now also allow users to filter contacts by labels and source accounts.
Earlier this month, Google rolled out an update for its trio of office productivity apps - Docs, Sheets and Slides, on iOS. The update brings enhanced multi-tasking functionality for devices like the iPad Pro, bumping the Docs and Slides apps to version 1.2016.30204 and Sheets app to version 1.2016.30206.
With the update, Docs, Sheets and Slides support iOS9's Slide Over and Split View features. While Slide Over enables users to swipe from the side of the display to briefly access another application, Split view lets two apps to be run simultaneously. In case of Docs, users can also insert images and page breaks.
Apart from these changes, the update also brings in numerous bug fixes and performance improvements.
