Google Chrome updated with Android Pay support
NEW DELHI: Search giant Google has rolled out a new update for its Chrome browser. The update bumps Chrome to version 53 and adds Android Pay mobile payments support, along with performance improvements.
Google has added support for the Payment Request web standard, which introduces faster checkouts with a single tap. As per the company, the update brings battery improvements for devices by reducing the browser’s battery consumption for frequently visited websites.
The company also claims that the new version of Chrome for Android is 15% faster as compared to earlier versions. The tech giant also claims that Chrome for Mac now uses 33% less power for videos, images, page scrolling and more.
Last month, Google announced that Chrome will start blocking behind-the-scenes Flash content. The search giant said that Chrome will start blocking Flash-based content such as page analytics. The move is likely to lead to faster page load times and improved battery life for devices.
Apart from blocking Flash content, Google also announced that it will have HTML5 as the default standard for games and videos on Chrome 55. The change will affect both games and videos, and will be effective starting December.
This is claimed to provide a better, safer and more power-efficient browsing experience to users. The company also said that websites that exclusively support Flash will remain unaffected by this.
