Freecharge partners with OYO

NEW DELHI: Freecharge has partnered with OYO to allow consumers to use their Freecharge wallet to pay across OYO platforms. Speaking on the partnership, Govind Rajan, CEO, Freecharge said, “We are focussed on building habit commerce and are moving towards building a less-cash society. Our partnership with OYO marks another aspect of a person’s life that will be made more convenient with our wallet,” said Freecharge CEO Govind Rajan.

Snapdeal-owned Freecharge seems to be on a partnering spree. The company recently recently partnered with BookMyShow. Under the partnership, customers can now pay for tickets for movies, sports, plays and events at BookMyShow using their Freecharge wallet.

Freecharge’s reach has grown from 17% to 30% in the period from October 2015 to April 2016 in India -- the highest growth in app usage for any payments app in the country, according to a Nielsen study.

Freecharge had earlier announced its partnership with Cleartrip.


The digital payments platform also emerged as the most engaging app in the category with the average time spent on the app per month -- increasing from 28 minutes to 55 minutes in the period October 2015 to April 2016, said the data from Nielsen Informate Smartphone Panel.

The Nielsen Informate mobile insights are gathered through a smartphone panel which captures the actual app usage data of the users on a daily basis.
