First-gen Samsung Galaxy A5 to get Android M update
NEW DELHI: If you are still using the first-gen Samsung Galaxy A5 smartphone then there’s a reason to cheer. Samsung has reportedly rolled out Android Marshmallow, version 6.0.1 update for the smartphone in Europe and South Africa. It is expected that users in India will also get it soon. It is an over-the-air update and users will be automatically notified about the same. Alternatively, they can also manually check for the update under Settings.
Samsung had launched the upgraded 2016 models of the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 smartphone running Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system early this year at a price of Rs 29,400 and Rs 33,400 respectively. Both the devices are upgradeable to Android Marshmallow OS.
The new Samsung Galaxy A5 and A6 2016 variants flaunt the glass and metal design that the company has previously used in their Galaxy S and Note 5 lineup.
As far as specifications go, the Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 features a 5.2-inch Full HD super AMOLED display with 1080x1920 pixels resolution while the Galaxy A7 2016 is slightly bigger and sports a 5.5-inch screen with the same resolution. Both the handsets are available in Gold, White and Black colour variants and also feature fingerprint sensors.
The smartphones are powered by a 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos processor paired with 2GB RAM for A5 and 3GB for A7. The onboard storage of the devices accounts to 16GB, which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 features a 13MP primary camera with LED flash and a 5MP secondary camera for selfies and video calling. On the connectivity front, the smartphones offer 4G, LTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS and packs a 3,300mAh battery on A7 and a 2,900 mAh battery on A5 2016.
