Taking that much-needed break from work
chandigarh: though travel and tourism may be one of the most affected industries in the country at the moment, there's something about the air at this time of the year that just doesn't let you sit still. the festive spirit pervades even the workplace and everyone wants to sneak off for a break, even if it's a quick one. this season we decided to find out what the top honchos of the city have planned for their winter break... hfcl chief marketing officer vijay kaul is off to mumbai and aurangabad this winter. "we have an iim alumnus reunion (batch of 1972) at aurangabad and about 50 people with families are expected to attend." likely to be a three-day affair, this one should have top shots from across the world uniting. kaul names a few, "the md of johnson & johnson, the md of tata teleservices, the md of godrej soaps; in fact there will be a lot of people i haven't met up with since i graduated from iim in 1972," says kaul. while this could well be a brainstorming holiday, hsbc's branch manager rohit joshi plans to utilise his three-four week break by just enjoying the sun, playing golf, and spending time with the family. "since we are not from these parts, the idea is to stay based at chandigarh and to make short oneday trips to places around." the itinerary includes a trip to nalagarh fort, to the golden temple in amritsar, to see some snow at kufri and a trip to renuka lake. but the best holiday plan of all seems to be that of bal sehgal, executive director, quark media house. "i haven't planned anything outside; i am going to attend parties here itself; hasn't chandigarh become a happening city?" and to sum it up, he adds, "as a bachelor you don't plan anything, it all depends on the opportunity." geetika_bhandari@indiatimes.com
