Suhaib Ilyasi to Anup Soni: Crime show hosts on TV

Anushka Sharma recently shot for her stint as the host of a crime show on TV. According to an IANS report, Anushka Sharma hosted an episode of Life OK's crime-based show, Savdhaan India. Anushka's appearance on the show is a part of her upcoming film, NH10's promotional campaign. Considering the fact that her film is a crime story, Anushka's decision to promote it as the host of a crime show seems to be a smart move on the part of the newly-minted producer. While Anushka would definitely do a fab job at hosting the show, we list out the best crime show hosts we have had on Indian television.

Suhaib Ilyasi to Anup Soni: Crime show hosts on TV

Suhaib Ilyasi: He was one of the first crime show hosts on Indian television. Soft-spoken and presentable, Suhaib Ilyasi made a living out of telling stories about hardened criminals on the show, India's Most Wanted. The dramatic representations included as a part of the show were also rather interesting. Since the format was new for the Indian audience, the show was a huge hit. Suhaib Ilyasi soon became a household name in the country and was lauded for his clean image and fearless style of reporting the facts in an unbiased manner. However, the host was later reportedly embroiled in a legal tussle. He was allegedly being tried on charges of murdering his wife.

Anup Soni: Empathising with the victims of the story being told and urging the audience to be cautious of falling prey to similar crimes, Anup Soni literally became the face of Sony TV's show, Crime Patrol. The actor is synonymous with the show and has been hosting most of the seasons of the show. While the show calls for an unbiased host, Anup Soni lends his thoughts on the proceedings of the show, trying to assess as to what must have happened behind the scenes. He is often seen launching into a brief monologue where he tries to understand the psyche of the criminal and also that of the victim. It is perhaps this quality of the actor that makes him as popular as he is.

Sushant Singh: While a lot of celebs host Savdhaan India's episode, Sushant Singh has been a constant. The actor is keen and earnest in his approach as the host of the show. Understanding the responsibility of being a crime show host, Sushant keeps it as factual as it gets. However, he keeps the interest of the audience alive by commenting on the goings-on of the show, which makes the story seem like a narration. This style of presenting the stories sets Sushant apart from the rest of the hosts of the show. The fact that Sushant is also a great actor adds to the drama value of the show as he keeps modulating his voice to heighten the suspense and create a sense of urgency.

Sakshi Tanwar: After playing the dutiful wife in daily soaps, Sakshi Tanwar has taken it upon herself to report incidents of heinous crimes in the Colors' show, Code Red. The format of the show is not similar to the rest of the crime shows on TV. The nature of the criminal acts shown on the show are also different. Sakshi plays a narrator of sorts, pointing out what exactly goes wrong in a situation that forces a person to commit a crime. While Sakshi was great as a bahu, she excels as the host who tries to go beyond what the script demands. It is perhaps her style of hosting the show that has fetched the newly-launched show, a good response.
