India To Post Defence Attaché In Mauritius; Oil, Gas Pact Nears Finalisation: EAM Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said the West Asia crisis has reinforced the need for stronger strategic partnerships, especially in energy, adding that India and Mauritius are working to finalise a government-to-government agreement on oil and gas supply to boost energy security. He also announced plans to soon deploy a defence attaché in Mauritius to enhance bilateral cooperation. Highlighting recent progress, Jaishankar said ties have deepened significantly over the past year, particularly after Narendra Modi’s visit, when relations were elevated to an enhanced strategic partnership. Speaking in Port Louis, he underlined expanding collaboration across sectors and expressed optimism about further strengthening India-Mauritius ties.
