WWE legend Dave Bautista recently opened up about the challenges he faced early in his wrestling career. Despite being signed by WWE in his late 20s, Bautista struggled during his time in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), the company's developmental territory. Playing the character Leviathan, a monster heel, Bautista revealed that he experienced stunted growth in OVW and wasn't sure if he would ever make it to the main WWE roster. However, a former WWE star stepped in and changed the course of his career, helping him overcome those early obstacles.

In a recent interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, former WWE superstar Dave Bautista discussed his early career challenges. He shared that he had doubts about whether he would make it to the main roster, mainly because of the monster character he was portraying at the time, known as Leviathan.

Dave Bautista Stated :

"That character, it stunted my growth in OVW, because I had nothing but squash matches," Bautista said. "I went out and [did] two [or] three moves and my matches were over. I had Goldberg matches. I didn't progress like the rest of the guys." (Via Insight with Chris Van Vliet/Wrestling Inc)

Bautista may have had doubts about his career but there’s no denying that he became one of WWE's legendary wrestlers. His achievements speak for him, making him a highly successful figure in the wrestling world.

Dave Bautista credits 'Fit' Finlay for saving his career when he hit a low point in OVW. At the time, Bautista felt the company was close to letting him go. As a final effort to keep him, he was assigned to work closely with several veteran wrestlers and trainers, including Dave Taylor, William Regal, and 'Fit' Finlay.

Bautista Added :

"Fit' Finlay, in a day, changed my life," Bautista continued. "'Fit' just took me aside and started talking to me, like, 'What's wrong with you, dude?' Bautista made his WWE main roster debut in 2002, first as the muscle for Reverend D-Von. However, he soon joined Evolution with Triple H, Ric Flair, and Randy Orton, and his career skyrocketed from there.
