NEW DELHI: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's recent 21-minute promo ahead of the March 1 edition of WWE SmackDown, where he took aim at Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, and even Rhodes' canine companion Pharoah, left fans buzzing. However, the absence of this extensive promo on WWE TV raised eyebrows and fueled speculation about potential time constraints.
Despite The Rock's significant influence and his role on TKO's Board of Directors, it appears that even The People's Champ can't always secure as much time as he desires on WWE programming.
Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer initially dismissed the notion that time constraints could be a factor, given The Rock's stature in the industry. However, recent reports contradict this assumption.
On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer shared insights from a higher-up within WWE, revealing that The Rock doesn't have unlimited control over the time allotted for his appearances. Meltzer stated, "I woke up on Friday morning. And I’d seen messages that he did this promo because they weren’t gonna give them enough time on SmackDown. And I said, That’s ridiculous! Rock can get as much time as he wants."
Contrary to Meltzer's initial belief, his contact within WWE informed him otherwise, stating, "Because he can’t get as much time as he wants, this isn’t working this way."
The revelation adds a layer of complexity to the behind-the-scenes negotiations and scheduling challenges, emphasizing that even wrestling legends like The Rock must navigate within certain constraints when it comes to the amount of airtime they receive on WWE broadcasts.
