Maryse talks about her decision to prioritize her children over the WWE industry in recent years. Maryse, the former WWE Divas Champion, hasn't competed much since 2017. After a brief comeback in late 2021, she joined The Miz to compete against Beth Phoenix and Edge at the 2022 WWE Royal Rumble. However, she hasn't wrestled since she has gone to a few shows.
Maryse Opens Up: Choosing Family Over WWE: A Decision Every Parent Understands
Maryse said she missed WWE but chose her children in an interview with
PEOPLE at the WWE RAW on Netflix premiere.
She said, “As much as we love what we do, the kids are now priority and number one,” Maryse said. “So we have to prioritize them in every single aspect. … Especially as a woman, it’s difficult with two kids. I can’t travel the way [I used to] … And then I don’t want to. I want to be there for my kids. And that’s what makes me happy.”
She adds, “I want to go to bed at night and know that I’m in the same house as my kids, so as much as I love the business — I miss it — I choose my kids.”
Maryse and The Miz were previously in the film Miz & Mrs. The Miz teased that they might be in another show soon in an interview with PEOPLE at the RAW on Netflix premiere.
