Manchester United have signed Slovenian forward Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig for a fee that could reach 85 million euros ($99 million), marking their third forward signing this offseason as they aim to recover from their worst Premier League season. The 22-year-old striker has agreed to a five-year contract with the club on Saturday.The signing comes as United attempts to address their scoring woes from last season, where they finished 15th in the Premier League, just three places above the relegation zone. This was their lowest finish in the modern era, with only 42 points.

Sesko joins fellow new forwards Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo as part of coach Ruben Amorim's offensive overhaul. The team's previous strikers, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, managed only 18 goals combined in all competitions last season.United's struggle for goals was evident as they were among the lowest-scoring teams in the Premier League, with only four teams scoring fewer goals, including the three relegated clubs. The team suffered a club record 18 losses in the Premier League era.Standing at 1.95 meters tall, Sesko has drawn comparisons to former United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. His record at Leipzig shows 14 goals in his first season and 13 in the following term. He has also scored six goals in 28 Champions League appearances for Leipzig and Salzburg, along with 16 goals in 41 games for Slovenia.

Mbeumo scored 20 league goals for Brentford last season, ranking among the top scorers alongside Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, and Erling Haaland. Cunha contributed 17 goals across all competitions while helping Wolves avoid relegation.
