NEW DELHI: A brave and determined Indian women's hockey team etched its name in the history books by entering the Olympic Games semifinals for the first time, stunning three-time champions and world no. 2 Australia 1-0 in an intense last-eight tie. India's ace shooters Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Sanjeev Rajput failed to qualify for the medal round after finishing 21st and 32nd respectively in the men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions at the Asaka Shooting Range. Kamalpreet Kaur dished out a good performance in her debut Olympics as she finished creditable 6th position in women's discus throw final.


Following is the complete schedule of Indian action on Monday:

ATHLETICS

7:24 AM: Women's 200m Round 1 - Heat 4 (Dutee Chand finishes 7th with a timing of 23.85 (season best))

SHOOTING

8:00 AM: 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men's Qualification (Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Sanjeev Rajput fail to qualify for finals)

HOCKEY

8:30 AM: Women's Quarter-final (India beat Australia 1-0 to enter semis)


EQUESTRIAN

1:30 PM: Eventing Jumping Individual Qualifier (Fouaad Mirza and Seigneur Medicott qualify for the finals)
