Abdullah, Bhosale in next round of ITF junior tennis meet

CHENNAI: Top seeded Indian players Shaik Abdullah and Rutuja Bhosale survived some anxious moments before advancing to the second round of the Indian Oil Servo ITF junior tennis tournament on Tuesday.
In the boys' section, Abdullah should his stars after being down 6-7(6), 3-5 when his opponent Garvit Batra of Delhi cramped at 3-5 in the second before falling down at 15-30.
Though Garvit tried hard to continue, he was eventually forced to concede the match.
In the first set, Garvit engaged Shaik in long rallies and outlasted him to clinch the set 8-6 in the tie-break.
In the girls' section, Bhosale, who ran away with the first set 6-1, saw rival Anjana Suresh of Canada find her rhythm in the second.
Though Anjana fought hard, Rutuja closed out the match at 7-5 in the second set tie-break.
Sumit Nagal outplayed Yash Deshpande 6-2, 6-2 while Samuel Sutton of England beat local boy Anvit Bendre 7-5, 6-0 to make the next grade.
