Sumit Lucas Toppo beats A Prabhu in brilliant race
Round 2 of 2014 MMSC- FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship got off to a great start with some close races at the MMRT in Irungattukottai this weekend. The Honda CBR 250 race provided to be a thriller with Sumit Lucas Toppo beating A Prabhu by 0.002 in a close battle. The day started off with the Honda - MMSC One Make Championship with the Honda CBR 150 Novice category. R Rajanikanth took the first win of the weekend after a race long battle with Vimochana Gadusu. R Harikrishnan finished in 3rd place to take the final podium spot. The second race of the day was the TVS - MMSC One Make Championship with the RTR 180 Open category. It was a race with many surprises with favourites Mathana Kumar retiring while Akash Dingare finishing in 6th place. It was a three-way battle for the win with Arvind Ganesh beating Abhishek Vasudev by 0.59 seconds in a brilliant race. KY Ahamed finished in 3rd place, less than half a tenth behind the leaders. After finishing on the podium in Race 1, R Harikrishnan followed it up by winning Race 1 of the Group D 165CC category. Prabhu V finished in 2nd place ahead of Naresh Babu. Next race in the Honda CBR 250 provided one of the best and closest races with Sumit Lucas Toppo beating A Prabhu by 0.002 seconds with absolutely nothing to choose from the two riders.
Both riders crossed the finish line side-by-side with no one knowing who won until Race Control confirmed that Toppo had won the race. Sarath Kumar finished in 3rd place.The TVS - MMSC One Make Championship was back on track for Race 5 of the day with the RTR 180 Open category. Naresh Babu took a comfortable win ahead of Vimochana Gadusu and Prabhu V. The final race of the day saw the Group C 165CC category on track. K Jagan continued from where he left off last year to take a convincing victory ahead of Harry Sylvester and Vivek Pillai.
