NEW DELHI: Rakshita Raju, a 23-year-old athlete from India, was eliminated in the first round of the women's 1500m T11 athletics competition at the ongoing Paralympics on Sunday. Rakshita finished last among the four competitors in Heat 3, recording a time of 5:29.92s. Only the top two runners from each of the three heats advanced to the final.In Rakshita's heat, Shanshan He from China secured the top spot with a time of 4:44.66s, followed by South Africa's Louzanne Coetzee, who achieved a season-best time of 4:45.25s.
The T11 category is for athletes with visual impairment, which may be entire loss of vision or he or she may be able to perceive light, but have no ability to see the shape of a hand at any distance.Athletes in the T11 category typically compete with the assistance of guides during their events.
