Gautam Gambhir was appointed as the head coach of the Indian men’s national cricket team in July 2024, succeeding Rahul Dravid. Since taking charge, Gambhir has guided the team to major titles, including the 2025 Champions Trophy and the 2025 Asia Cup. Gambhir retired from all forms of cricket in December 2018, announcing his retirement on December 4 that year. As a player, he was one of India’s most dependable openers across formats. In his international career, he played 58 Tests, 147 ODIs, and 37 T20Is, scoring over 10,000 runs combined. He was India’s top scorer in the 2007 T20 World Cup final and the 2011 ODI World Cup final, playing crucial knocks that helped India lift both trophies.
