Vegas Golden Knights and Mark Stone look to extend their winning streak as they welcome St. Louis Blues

The Vegas Golden Knights welcome the St. Louis Blues to T-Mobile Arena on Saturday night. The matchup marks the third meeting of the season between the two clubs as they battle for playoff positioning in their respective divisions.

Vegas enters the contest riding momentum from Reilly Smith's two-goal performance in a 5-3 victory over Columbus. However, the Golden Knights need to build on that success after struggling through an inconsistent stretch.

Vegas Golden Knights seeking home success after mixed results in recent games

Vegas sits at 19-11-12 with 50 points, positioning them in the middle of the Pacific Division playoff race. With just 9 wins in 20 home games, the Golden Knights haven’t really flourished at the T-Mobile Arena this season and head coach Bruce Cassidy believes there’s much to improve.

One thing that’s been working out for Vegas, however, is their overpowering offense. Out of the 29 games in which they scored three or more goals, the Golden Knights have won an impressive 18 times. So come Saturday night, captain Mark Stone needs his team to score big.

Over their last 10 games, the Golden Knights have struggled with a 3-5-2 record while averaging 3.6 goals per game. Vegas has averaged 2.3 penalties and 7.1 penalty minutes while giving up 3.8 goals per game during that stretch. The defensive issues have been the primary concern during their inconsistent run.

Mark Stone leads Vegas with 14 goals and 22 assists through 42 games. Smith has provided recent production with five goals and two assists over the past 10 contests, giving the Golden Knights secondary scoring behind their captain.

St. Louis Blues continue to struggle throughout this season despite Justin Faulk’s performance

The Blues have endured a challenging campaign that has them well outside playoff contention with no chance at the wildcard spot. They currently sit at 17-20-8 with just 42 points, placing them near the bottom of the Central Division standings.

The team has been particularly ineffective on the road, posting a disappointing 7-11-3 record away from home. That poor road performance has made climbing back into the playoff race extremely difficult. Not to mention, St. Louis suffers from a -43 goal differential.

Those numbers reflect St. Louis's struggles at both ends of the ice throughout the season. Justin Faulk paces the Blues with 11 goals and 10 assists. Brayden Schenn has provided recent production with three goals and two assists over the last 10 games.

St. Louis has gone 4-5-1 over their past 10 contests while averaging just 2.5 goals per game. The Blues have averaged 3.6 penalties and 7.8 penalty minutes while giving up 3.3 goals per game during that span. The offensive struggles have been the primary issue holding them back.

However, the Blues won the previous meeting between these clubs 4-3, giving them confidence heading into Saturday's rematch. Both teams enter the matchup healthy with no injuries listed, with puck drop scheduled for 10 p.m. EST at T-Mobile Arena.
