Patrick Kane and James van Riemsdyk have finally become NHL teammates, 18 years after going 1–2

The Red Wings just signed James van Riemsdyk to a one-year deal, bringing him alongside Patrick Kane, the No. 1 overall pick from that same draft year. For the first time in their careers, the top two picks of 2007 are wearing the same jersey.

Despite crossing paths on Team USA at the World Juniors, Olympics, and World Cup, they never suited up for the same NHL squad, until now.
